Unnecessary How-to

A few months ago I landed on Wiki-How thanks to a link on Pinterest. As a result of that I began following Wiki-How on Twitter. Now and then, I click the link. There are some useful things and others are simple things that one might assume everyone knows how to do. For sake of experimentation and boredom, I searched what I think is the simplest thing on Earth to make: A peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Wiki-How did not disappoint. It has instructions complete with photographs. It, however, uses the wonkiest piece of bread they could find. I'd post the actual photo of said wackadoo slice of bread, but I'd probably be violating some copyright and I can't even afford to pay GoDaddy! to use my other blog let alone some legal fees to defend my intention to merely point fingers and laugh rather than steal. OK, this is the link to the Wiki-How to make a PB&J . Did you check it out? Scroll all the way down and they've added how to really jazz up your sandwich, as w...

This one is just f'ing scary

Listen to your heart closely today, because it's going to alert you to a new romance or love opportunity. This might not involve romance in the terms of a significant other -- it could very well mean that more romantic ideas and concepts are becoming more prominent in your life. But either way, you should keep yourself open to new opportunities and do whatever you can to honor a recent commitment you made with someone you have known for a very long time. ....and right before Halloween. Maybe this would be more appropriate on April 1.  For as long as you've all known/read me, you've probably gathered that I am a hopeful sort.  While I get discouraged and over-think e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g, I still keep the faith that one day my time will come to have all the warm fuzzy feelings of romance and not find them skipping town at the first notion of me reciprocating. I don't like being toyed with.  For sure there are people who get a thrill from that cat and mouse game.  I d...

That's Mo-mo. She is magnetically drawn to the dining table. Sigh. She's also showing off her flexibility. Meow.

What do my dreams tell me?

Image
Sunday was spent mostly resting. I'm not one for naps and if I happen to zonk out it's not intended. A cat nap at best, but Sunday brought a new name for nappyland. I slept for three hours and felt as though more could have been had. Seeing the clock jolted me awake as dinner needed to be prepared for Mancub. I always feel guilty when I'm home and not making the most of the time spent with him. We may be grounded to the house due to lack of funds, but quality time can be watching a movie or program on television together. My return to work after four days off was relatively uneventful. I wasn't hit with a barrage of news about things gone awry. One associate told me it seemed that I took more time off and that I was missed. That's always a welcome thing to hear. Once I got home from work around 7:00 PM, I quickly prepared mini-burgers for Mancub. Having only eaten my lunch around 2:30 I wasn't feeling hungry. Since I hadn't had my Shakeology for t...

I'm a regular girl

Image
+ You know you want me. Oh yeah. Sexy, tipsy and regular. It's the side of the cougar television never tells you about. Rawr ... now, can you point me towards the ladies room?

Give in to the Wild Hair!

Sometimes you have to give in to your wild hair. No, no. No one gave in to me . I'm still working on that aspect of my life. Blahville. You know how you can be sitting on your couch or staring at your computer screen and it hits you? That thing you just have to do. That spur of the moment-if-you-wait-it-won't-happen situation. That's what I succumbed to today and boy, did it feel awesome! I tend to over think everything. OK, not everything, but damned close. Like, I should have really over thought that marriage deal, but I didn't because I was scolding myself for thinking too much. First of all, I ate at McDonald's for breakfast. Yeah, yeah, I know it's awful and I'll probably regret it later, but I was suffering from a serious Southern Style Chicken Biscuit from the house of Ronald. So, I caved. Yum! I realized that I'd left my laundry detergent and softener at home. I had no desire to turn back. Wal-Mart wasn't too far out of the way ...

Sisters are blogging it for themselves!

Image
Blogging. Web logs. Virtual journals that have managed to bring the world together in some capacity .. for better or worse. This post is about the better. If you look to the right under the "Blog me? Blog You!" column, you'll see a large list of blogs. Those are blogs that I read. The authors each possess a unique quality that gives me food for thought. Whether it be providing me with the laugh of the day or cause to shed a tear, they are fantastic reads! Today is all about the ladies. To say that I was giddy when Popping Bubbles graciously put my blog on her list is an understatement. There are so many phenomenal bloggers out there and I'm humbled to be in their company. Her blog takes the reader from awe-ing over her affection for and collection of shoes to laughing hysterically over the toils of the workplace. Without further ado, I give you TEN blog sisters who can turn the world on with a smile. They can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worth whi...

Parenthetical Knockers

Image
I love to snark. I love American Idol. I love Sean Daly's Pop Life blog. Put them all together .... I love to snark about American Idol on Sean Daly's Pop Life Blog. Participating on a blog that is part of a newspaper which is family friendly sets limitations on what you can write. Foul language isn't permitted. Dropping the f-bomb is a big no-no. Expletives in general are snagged by the censors aka the blog police. Some words that many people deem harmless, such as, slang for body parts are slammed down and beaten into submission. For what it's worth, I don't think a lot of people under the age of 21 frequent Sean's blog unless he's writing about his big brother like relationship with the Jonas Brothers. ::fist bump:: I believe it was last week -- it really seems like this season of Idol has dragged on much longer, but alas it's only two weeks in to a long assed journey till the crowning of season 8's most popular performer. Sorry, I'm easily d...

Casa Riss at night = weirdness

Image
I don't know if it's the winter weather and I have my heat turned up too high or I've piled on too many blankets, but I have had weird dreams. Perhaps I'm running a low grade fever. Just maybe working out is ridding me of toxins that are reeking havoc on my nocturnal thought processes. Let's go with the last suggestion as I want to believe more good is coming from being kinder to my body. Here's an example: The other night, the howling video kitty woke me from a dream. In this dream I was calling a prize claim line where everything was made from LINOLEUM. Yes. You read correctly. Umbrella stand: Made of fine grade linoleum. Also offered was a lamp, shoe rack, and book shelf. All were comprised of the floor covering of the 70's. Hello! Weird. Every night this week the kitty heard in my video has been waking us up in the wee hours with her obnoxious tones. She's been boisterous and determined to get me out of bed. Mancub, who sleeps like a log, was even a...

I wish you a MeMe Christmas

One of the grooviest and most down to earth chicks on plurk tagged me to participate in this meme. It should not be difficult to execute. I'm known for my weirdness. Yet, I just like to think of it as my style of normal. "I'm normal. Your expectations of me are simply off kilter." Here are the rules: • Link to the person (Not A Mean Girl) who tagged you and post the rules in your post. • Share seven random/weird facts about yourself. • Tag seven random people and link to their blogs. • Let each person know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment in their blog. Random Rissness #1 : I have to pluck disgusting hairs from my neck and chin daily. They seem to latch on to Miracle-Gro or Rogaine when I'm not looking! Feeling for vile buggers has become what appears to be a nervous tick. I carry a tweezers with me in case one crops up and starts waving at people at will. Random Rissness #2 : I've been informed that my eyes reveal a lot about what I'm thinking. ...

TGIF -- Thank God It's Freezing -- NOT!

Image
Wisconsin is getting battered with massive snow. Here in Kankakee we were pelted with freezing rain. I offer you proof from my own front door. When I first attempted to open my front door at 7:30 a.m., I realized the inch or so of ice had blocked me in. Thanks to Gary the Garden Gnome and his magic rock salt, I was successful in stepping out at 9:30 a.m. I'm actually a little sad because that was going to be my number one lame excuse for why I was unable to get to work. The bottom photos were snapped from my icy prison. That explains the raindrops you see. Frozen on the glass, mind you. When I was on the porch taking these photos in my pajamas, I heard branches falling in the distance. I nearly pooed myself when a top branch broke and fell from the willow tree that lumbers over the garage. Fortunately, it isn't a big branch and didn't hit the garage roof. My car is parked in there. Brainstorm! My garage probably won't open due to the ice build up. I may ge...

There's a bathroom on the mite

Image
Ladies and gentlemen: I present to you the world's smallest toilet. I found this image while Googling grainy black and white images. Don't you just love what you can find when you're on a relatively random quest? OK, there's not a doubt in my mind that I didn't need to see the grainy photo of a nude woman sitting on the floor of what appeared to be a flop house. Just sayin'. I perused the site from which this photo was borrowed. I didn't understand most of the language. Confession time. I didn't understand anything on the page. However, there are some terrifically mind blowing images that will astound you. To quote the title of the page exactly: The 49th International Conference on Electron, Ion and Photon Beam Technology and Nanofabrication Bizarre/Beautiful Micrograph Contest

Freaky Friday!

Image
Here it is. Yet another Friday that has me feeling undeniably cheeky. I'm all sassified!! I can't quite explain it. The last time I declared this I was giddy over getting to consume mass quantities of fair food . By the way, last Friday I over indulged on cotton candy, corn dogs and soft pretzels. That carbohydrate inhalation left me comatose. I woke up feeling as if I'd been doing tequila shots all night long. OY! So, here I am off work. It's a cloudy, rainy, yucky day; yet, I'm impervious to the doldrums usually brought on by weather that's less than favorable. When I say I'm feeling cheeky, I don't mean this: It's this weird feeling I don't often wake up experiencing. I feel positive. How can that be? Am I not supposed to be feeling the stresses of financial sparsity? Shouldn't I be grumpy because my fling was flung -- presumably since there's been no communication? Nope. I am delightfully content.

I can take 'em!

My 'net friend Jane posted her Thursday Thirteen today. This quiz was added. I took it. OH yeah! Bring on the 5 year olds! I wonder if this means I could be a Kindergarten teacher? 21 Created by OnePlusYou - Free Dating Site

Silent Sunday

Watch the video below. Do not adjust your volume. There isn't any sound. There's really no need for it. I discovered this gem on youtube while searching for the silent film Nosferatu. I'm so delighted at my black and white discovery. What does this little movie tell us about life? It reveals that no matter how intimate the occasion; it's all about wearing the right pair of shoes.

But you said you blogged me!!

Image
I work with people who rarely use the internet for things other than eBay, email and Idunnowhat. If I discuss my blog, blogs I read, plurk, myspace, etc... I get the melodious sound of crickets. I found this photo while searching for funny t-shirts. This hit me to the core, folks. I think I almost shed a tear. The bottom line is that I care. So, neener neener booger eater!
