Tell me more!

Image
Listen, my brain is a cavalcade of mish-mash lately.  Bear with me as I try to regain my ability to write cohesively (if that is ever possible with me) and form a decent  blog post.  In the meantime, this handy Facebook tag-a-long will be quite useful.  Thank you to my friend Angie Bailey of Catladyland for bestowing this upon me.  It came in the nick of time -- that's what friends are for! These rules apply if you're going to do this on Facebook. I'm not changing things up for the sake of the blog . To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your title as "Getting to know each other!", tag 25 people including me (tagging is done in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish. 1. What time did you get up this morning? 5:36  2. How do you like your steak? Rare -- meaning, I rarely eat red meat. It's nothing personal against cows nor is it a moral statement. My bo...

Random songs from a random girl

Image
My friend Angie tagged me in a note on Facebook. I'm doing it here because I want to. I'm a rebel. But not a rebel without a tune. Should you desire to play along, and you probably won't, here are the rules that are meant to be broken: 15 Random Songs Instructions: Once you've been tagged... (1) Open iTunes or other mp3 player. (2) Go to SHUFFLE songs mode. (3) Write down the first 15 songs that come up--song title and artist--NO editing/cheating, please. (4) Choose 20 (or so) people to be tagged. It is generally considered to be in good taste to tag the person who tagged you. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about your musical tastes, or at least a random sampling thereof. (To do this, go to "NOTES" under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, enter your 15 Shuffle Songs, Click 'Preview' below to tag 15 people (in the right hand corner of the app) then click Publish, the little blue ...

Twenty five startling facts about me

Image
My friend Angie posted this as a note on Facebook.  Since it seems I'm writerly challenged lately -- unless it has to do with weight loss -- this seemed perfect.  This is also major league challenging since I don't really find myself all that fascinating. For what it's worth, I am starting this at 7:26 PM.  Let's see how long it takes me to come up with twenty five random facts about myself that aren't too crass, intimate or simply audacious (hehe yeah, like that scares me.) 1.  The smell of hot dogs (corn coated or plain) induced horrendous gag reactions during my pregnancy. But I loved Nacho Cheese Doritos and craved beer during the entire nine months. I succumbed to one of those cravings. ** I do not like beer on any other given day. 2. Even though my (ex) husband and I took Lamaze classes, neither of us managed to remember a lick of it. Because I suspected this would happen, I invited my sister Maureen to be in the labor and delivery room.  Thank GOD s...

I wanna talk about meme

Image
A meme is :  An idea that, like a gene, can replicate and evolve.  A unit of cultural information that represents a basic idea that can be transferred from one individual to another, and subjected to mutation, crossover and adaptation.  A cultural unit (an idea or value or pattern of behavior) that is passed from one generation to another by nongenetic means (as by imitation); “memes are the cultural counterpart of genes”. Or in regards to the Internet:A meme spread online could be just about anything that is voluntarily shared, including phrases, images, rumors and audio or video files. An Internet meme might originate and stay online. However, frequently memes cross over and may spread from the offline world to online or vice-versa.  Generally, memes are useful when a blogger is stuck and requiring mental stimulation -- inspiration to release the creative block. Once in awhile I will participate in such a thing if I'm at a loss for words. Typically, those time...

Thursday Think Tank

I wanted to post something amusing, but I wasn't feeling ultra creative. Like so many bloggers who hit the proverbial brick wall, I went in search of something pre-fab, but probably not FAB in the sense of fabulous. Getting to know you -- actually, me. ME ME ME!

Image
I got tagged for this on Facebook from fellow Stuck in the '80s and wicked cool Steve Perry fan-girl Carla. Now, I'm sharing the inane with my devoted and beloved readers. Aren't you lucky! If you've been tagged or you are reading this, you have the honor of copying all these goofy questions, writing your own response, and tagging 25 other victims. You have to tag me so really you just need 24 more people. If I tagged you, it's because I want to know more about you. To do this, go to “notes” under tabs on your profile page, paste these instructions in the body of the note, type your title as "Getting to know each other!", tag 25 people including me (tagging is done in the right hand corner of the app) then click publish. 1. What time did you get up this morning? 4:30 -- I planned on 6:00. 2. How do you like your steak? Medium 3. What was the last film you saw at the cinema? Land of the Lost 4. What is your favorite TV show? Forensic Files and The Inves...

The 10 second interview that's lasted months

Image
Facebook is a time suck There! I said it! I admit it. But it keeps me off the stripper pole. About 8 months ago someone sent me an invite to do a 10 second interview. I figured I had that much time to spare, right? How many questions could there be? Hundreds! Unless you're John Moschitta, it's unlikely you can answer numerous questions in under 10 seconds ... with exception to that rapid fire questioning in Uncle Buck . Wait ... that clip is 25 seconds long, but isn't it precious? So, for my own amusement (and maybe your's) I have extracted 20 gems from Q & A with Miss Riss -- 1. What's the sexiest thing the opposite sex can wear ? Me 2. Nothing beats ... ? A new pair of underpants 3. In 20 years I will be .. .? Still answering these stupid assed questions 4. I don't get mad, I get . ..? Psycho 5. When they write my obituary, I hope they mention ... ? I don't care. I'll be dead 6. What flavor are you glad they didn't include in Bertie...

Monday malaise

I have a long week ahead of me. For you regular Nine to Fivers you'll think I'm a big whiny baby. To someone in the retail bizz, you'll understand why working five days in a row with varied shifts presents itself as bothersome and arduous. For instance, I work 11:30 to 9:00 (PM) today and turn around and toss myself into the kettle again at 9:00 AM. No breather beyond sleeping. The light at the tunnel is that I'm off on Saturday and that gives me a sense of normalcy. So, for today's post I am giving you a meme. At least it's something and hopefully it'll evoke some thought. Consider it my gift to aid your brain in waking up. Because I like to give credit where credit is due, I found this via Google search on the blog Curious as a Cat . I have a feeling I may resort to this from time to time. 1) What is the best thing you have ever won as a prize? I recently won a 3 month membership to Gold's Gym when I bought raffle tickets at our local Relay For...

Not A Mean Girl tagged me! This meme is a little bit different. I like it. I think you'll all enjoy the results. HA! I literally chuckled when I realized what photo was going to be the subject of the post. Here are the rules: 1. Go to your documents 2. Go to your 6th file. 3. Go to your 6th picture. 4. Blog about it. 5. Tag 6 friends to do the same. Simple enough right? Here is my 6th Photo This lovely photo comes from my "those were the days" folder. It's filled with pictures that have been scanned by myself or friends. I love that we can do that! Otherwise, how would I show the blogosphere my hot 80's style? From left to right: ME, Laurie, Kelly and Jessica. The year was 1985, I believe. I was 19 and ripe for the pickin' Please note the tan. I'm quite certain I was doing the fake and bake because my tummy is beautifully bronzed. I have no recollection of wearing a bikini back then. My boobs were so tiny! I had gone to Decatur with Laurie, ...

I wish you a MeMe Christmas

Image
One of the grooviest and most down to earth chicks on plurk tagged me to participate in this meme. It should not be difficult to execute. I'm known for my weirdness. Yet, I just like to think of it as my style of normal. "I'm normal. Your expectations of me are simply off kilter." Here are the rules: • Link to the person (Not A Mean Girl) who tagged you and post the rules in your post. • Share seven random/weird facts about yourself. • Tag seven random people and link to their blogs. • Let each person know they’ve been tagged by leaving a comment in their blog. Random Rissness #1 : I have to pluck disgusting hairs from my neck and chin daily. They seem to latch on to Miracle-Gro or Rogaine when I'm not looking! Feeling for vile buggers has become what appears to be a nervous tick. I carry a tweezers with me in case one crops up and starts waving at people at will. Random Rissness #2 : I've been informed that my eyes reveal a lot about what I'm thinking. ...

Hump Meme!

Thanks to the hilariously creative ladies at Plurk, I have this meme to occupy me. Yeah, I'm looking at you Cajunvegan , CitizenJaney and AsKatKnits . TEN things you wish you could say to TEN different people right now: 1. Maybe if you hadn't lied you wouldn't be in this predicament. 2. Hypocrite! Party of YOU! 3. I hope karma bites your ass hard, you vindictive bitch! 4. Please, stop breaking my heart. 5. Seriously, get over yourself. 6. When I grace you with my presence, it has nothing to do with liking or respecting you. 7. My life would be meaningless without you in it. 8. I thought you were a compassionate guy. I realize you're nothing more than pathetic. 9. I might be fat, but you'll always be a c**t. 10. You really do enjoy the sound of your own voice, don't you? NINE things about yourself: 1. I like very few people. 2. I got hit in the head by a merry-go-round when I fell off. I have a dent in my skull as a result. 3. I was 18 the first time I flew on a...

Tag Teamed

Image
The social network known as Plurk has afforded me the opportunity to encounter utterly fascinating, intelligent, diverse individuals. Today, I have been tagged by two particularly lovely women. First up, Not A Mean Girl . She is genuinely kind and warm. She's the person who puts her heart and soul out there for all to see. For that, I admire her. Second tagger is Yoonamaniac . She considers herself a misanthrope. I can respect that self-label. However, I just see her as someone who is very discerning with whom she lets in her life. I can totally dig that. Here are the rules: Step #1 - Link to the person who tagged you. See above. Step #2 - Write Five Fun/Interesting Facts about yourself. This gives fellow bloggers (and your readership) a chance to actually get to know you better. 1. I was cursedly nicknamed Sarah Heartburn when I was a little girl. It's a name play on the silent film actress Sarah Burnhardt. Apparently, I was quite dramatic and cried easily. I'm sure it was...

It's a me thing

Image
This little gem was posed by Jane on her blog, Confessions of a Middle-aged Suburban Diva : "Describe something seemingly unimportant or ridiculous that makes you happy." Hmm, where do I begin? It seems there are daily occurrences of such things. I'll give it a go! I'm tickled pink over the way our kitty, Silver, flops on the floor, rolls and pops back up as if it was a choreographed gymnastics routine. On the same course, our more mature cat, Mo-mo, thinks it's her duty to act like a paper weight by sitting on the letters, cards and loose papers that reside on my desk. One never knows when a strong wind will carry them off. She's at the ready to protect my mail. Or, the manner in which she squeezes herself into small boxes and containers. Contentment never looked so unbearably uncomfortable. As crazy as it sounds, I am amused and chuckle when my neighbor brings a pillow into the middle of the yard and takes a nap. There's no hammock or blanket. She just c...

Movie Madness Meme

Image
OK, fantabulous Lydia has this on her blog. Naturally, I had to follow suit and share. There are ten questions about movies you've viewed. Be as elaborate or brief as you choose. Here we go! 1. The First movie that made you cry: I'm a cryer. There's never been a doubt about that, but the one film that is embedded in my memory for causing me to nearly go into convulsions was Terms of Endearment . I had lost my mother to cancer a couple years prior to this movie coming out. My father took me not realizing what the movie was about. By the time Debra Winger's character passes away, I was in a fit of tears. Dad had to escort me out of the theater because my tears and sobs were so intense that I could hardly walk or see. I haven't managed to watch the movie again. 2. The movie that everyone else seems to love, but you do not: Titanic . Maybe I'm just too cynical, but up until the ship sank, I was wondering when it was going to hit the iceberg and put me out of my m...
